9. Wonderful Toys

Wonderful toys
/ˈwʌndəfʊl/ /tɔɪz/
William saw that the door of the van was open.
/ˈwɪljəm/ /sɔː/ /ðat/ /ðə/ /dɔː/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /van/ /wəz/ /ˈəʊp(ə)n/
‘Who opened the door?’ he asked himself
/huː/ /ˈəʊp(ə)nd/ /ðə/ /dɔː//hiː/ /ɑːskt/ /hɪmˈsɛlf/
Then he saw the spacemen standing up in the back of the van.
/ðɛn/ /hiː/ /sɔː/ /ðə/ /ˈspeɪsmen/ /ˈstandɪŋ/ /ɪn/ /ðə/ /bak/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /van/
‘How did these dolls get out of their boxes?’ he said.
/haʊ/ /dɪd/ /ðiːz/ /dɒlz/ /ɡɛt/ /aʊt/ /ɒv/ /ðɛː/ /bɒksɪz//hiː/ /sɛd/
‘Something strange is going on here.’
/ˈsʌmθɪŋ/ /streɪn(d)ʒ/ /ɪz/ /ˈɡəʊɪŋ/ /ɒn/ /hɪə/
He pushed the two spacemen into the box and shut it hard.
/hiː/ /pʊʃt/ /ðə/ /tuː/ /ˈspeɪsmen/ /ˈɪntʊ/ /ðə/ /bɒks/  /ənd/ /ʃʌt/ /ɪt/ /hɑːd/
Just then, he saw the flying saucer on the ground near the van.
/dʒʌst/ /ðɛn/, /hiː/ /sɔː/ /ðə/ /ˈflʌɪɪŋ/ /ˈsɔːsə/ /ɒn/ /ðə/ /ɡraʊnd/ /nɪə/ /ðə/ /van/
‘Someone has taken a toy out of the van!’ he said in surprise.
/ˈsʌmwʌn/ haz/ /teɪkn/ /ə/ /tɔɪ/ /aʊt/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /van//hiː/ /sɛd/ /ɪn/ /səˈprʌɪz/
‘This is very strange.’
/ðɪs/ /ɪz/ /ˈvɛri/ /streɪn(d)ʒ/
He picked up the flying saucer and put it in the back of the van too.
/hiː/ /pɪkt/ /ʌp/ /ðə/ /ˈflʌɪɪŋ/ /ˈsɔːsə/ /ənd/ /pʊt/ /ɪt/ /ɪn/ /ðə/ /bak/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /van/ /tuː/
By this time, the two spacemen had climbed out of the box.
/bʌɪ/ /ðɪs/ /tʌɪm/, /ðə/ /tuː/ /ˈspeɪsmen/ /had/ /klʌɪmd/ /aʊt/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /bɒks/
‘These two dolls are out of the box again,’ William said and picked them up.
/ðiːz/ /tuː/ /dɒlz/ /ɑː/ /aʊt/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /bɒks/ /əˈɡɛn/ /ˈwɪljəm/ /sɛd/  /ənd/ /pɪkt/ /ðɛm/ /ʌp/
The two spacemen fought and shouted.
/ðə/ /tuː/ /ˈspeɪsmen/ /fɔːt/ /ənd/ /ʃaʊtɪd/
‘What wonderful toys,’ said William.
/wɒt/ /ˈwʌndəfʊl/ /tɔɪz//sɛd/ /ˈwɪljəm/
‘They can walk about and they can make noises. They must work by electricity.’
/ðeɪ/ /kan/ /wɔːk/ /əˈbaʊt/ /ənd/ /ðeɪ/ /kan/ /meɪk/ /nɔɪzɪz/. /ðeɪ/ /mʌst/ /wəːk/ /bʌɪ/ /ˌɪlɛkˈtrɪsɪti/
So he tried to switch off the electricity.
/səʊ/ /hiː/ /trʌɪd/ /tə/ /swɪtʃ/ /ɒf/ /ði:/ /ˌɪlɛkˈtrɪsɪti/
He twisted their noses and pushed their stomachs and pulled their arms.
/hiː/ /ˈtwɪstɪd/ /ðɛː/ /nəʊzɪz/ /ənd/ /pʊʃt/ /ðɛː/ /ˈstʌməks/ /ənd/ /pʊld/ /ðɛː/ /ɑːmz/
But they just kept on calling out and fighting.
/bʌt/ /ðeɪ/ /dʒʌst/ /kɛpt/ /ɒn/ /ˈkɔːlɪŋ/ /aʊt/ /ənd/ /ˈfʌɪtɪŋ/
William did not want to waste any more time.
/ˈwɪljəm/ /dɪd/ /nɒt/ /wɒnt/ /tə/ /weɪst/ /ˈɛni/ /mɔː/ /tʌɪm/
He pushed the spacemen back into the box and shut it again.
/hiː/ /pʊʃt/ /ðə/ /ˈspeɪsmen/ /bak/ /ˈɪntʊ/ /ðə/ /bɒks/ /ənd/ /ʃʌt/ /ɪt/ /əˈɡɛn/
Then he shut the door of the van.
/ðɛn/ /hiː/ /ʃʌt/ /ðə/ /dɔː/ /ɒv/ /ðə/ /van/
He poured petrol into the tank, started the motor, and drove away.

/hiː/ /pɔːd/ /ˈpɛtr(ə)l/ /ˈɪntʊ/ /ðə/ /taŋk/, /stɑːtɪd/ /ðə/ /ˈməʊtə/, /ənd/ /drəʊv/ /əˈweɪ/
